Got new Phone…
by Oz on Sep.05, 2010, under Personal
I finally got rid of my iPhone 3g and upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S. The difference is, well, it’s like going from one of those new mini minors (looks good, but not much else) to a tricked out Porsche Cayenne (also looks, good, but has insane grunt under the bonnet). It’s running on Android 2.1, although as soon as the update comes through, I’ll be upgrading it to 2.2 (FroYo). Before anyone asks, yes, I have rooted it, but I have yet to install any custom ROM’s, I’m waiting to see what FroYo brings first.
I was attacked by a dropbear…
by Oz on Apr.28, 2010, under Personal
Well, won’t you lend your lungs to me?
Mine are collapsing
Plant my feet and bitterly breathe
Up the time that’s passing.
Breath I’ll take and breath I’ll give
Pray the day ain’t poison
Stand among the ones that live
In lonely indecision.
So, a dropbear didn’t actually attack me, just evil horrible viruses (virii?). My back started hurting the other day, it got progressively worse, and then Sunday night I was having trouble breathing. Monday morning I headed off to the doctor, he had a listen, got a weird look and sent me off to get a mask attached to my face and a mixture of oxygen and ventolin pumped into me. After about 10 minutes of that, he told me to take some drugs, and to go to a hospital if the lack of breathing got any worse. I laughed at his joke, he was serious.
After spending most of Monday laying around catching up on Family Guy episodes I hadn’t watched, I noticed that my breathing wasn’t getting any easier, and infact was actually now making an audible wheezing noise every time I exhaled. Apparently my breathing could get worse without me actually stopping breathing…
CSM 3 Iceland Trip: Day -1. “To beat death, you’ve got to know death.”

Ok, I’m using quotes for the next few days to show this is srs bsns. First person to comment with the name of the film, the character in the film that said the quote, and the year the film was released gets a prize of some sort.
So, today was my R&R day, that stands for recovery and reconnaissance. After a massive 4 hours of sleep (thanks jetlag), I wandered down to a breakfast of cheese, ham, cucumber and bacon. mmmmmm bacon. No-one else seemed to be around, so I went back upstairs, burnt some skin off my arm before I remembered how the showers worked, got dressed in my finest tshirt and trundled off to CCP Hq.
CSM 3 Iceland Trip: Day -3 & -2

Dear lord why is Australia so far away from everywhere else. This post will chronicle the epic journey from Melbourne to Reykjavic, prepare yourselves for a tale so epic, they may even make it into a computer game for Uwe Bol to turn into a crappy film.
It all started on a lovely evening in Melbourne, it was a balmy 12deg outside, a little bit of drizzle, pretty normal for the end of winter. After suffering through the constant heart attacks of allowing my night (and most days) blind father to drop me off at the airport, I made my way to check in, drop off my bags and get my boarding pass.
We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories. Some take us forward, they’re called dreams.

My semi-namesake Jeremy Irons said that. It’s pretty insightful and useful for a entry title since I haven’t updated this thing in almost a month (again). Sorry for anyone that hangs out to see my latest posts (all 1 of you). So yeah, this entry is all about catching up with what has been going on and what is coming up.
Eve/CSM:
Well, in general eve news I haven’t really been up to much. I run the odd mission here and there and train skills, but I’ve pretty much been spending most of my eve time doing the CSM thing. In case I’ve forgotten to tell people, I’m the Vice-Chair of CSM 3. Things have been kind of running smoothly, as expected the learning curve for the new CSM’s has been a little steep, but I think everyone is getting the hang of it. I’m not particularly happy with the quantity of the issues being raised (meaning 3+ hour meetings starting at 2am my time), but that should thin out a little as we get through the annoying little issues and move onto the bigger ones.
